[This is just a little excerpt from a long gone fanfic I made of my character Cadel a long time ago...like last year or the year before. The name of the fanfic came from a song I was listening too a while back.]
See You On the Other Side
by: Angel
"What are you waiting for? Didn't you say that you were going to kill me? Throw me in a river after I died?" a slender, yet muscular and very gifted man retorted without any emotion on his face. Any normal person would have been terrified to be in his position right now, but he wasn't, he was just annoyed. The man, Cadel, knew that being in Cardiff after leaving the gang would put him at higher risk of being hurt by the dumb muscle of the gang. Right now, in an alleyway in the backstreets of Cardiff at around 12:00 AM, he knew how much he was right. Cadel gasped, feeling the punch land him in the stomach, hard enough to hurt and nearly make him throw up his dinner. The men around him just laughed, lifting the younger male in the air and smashing him against the brick wall that was splattered with the "hero's" blood.
Cadel felt a throbbing feeling that enveloped his whole brain, a throbbing that made him want to cry out in horror and pain...scream, even. "D-Dumb muscle..." Cadel growled out, attempting to kick the attacker that held him in the groin. It didn't work, and the younger male found himself on the ground, his face in the wet, sticky dirt and oil that coated the filthy ground in this back alley. The substances on his face and tongue smelled horrible, and he wanted nothing else to be back in his apartment with his newfound girlfriend, discussing their plans on marriage. "Marriage..." Cadel thought, giving a pained smile as that word made the pain a bit more bearable. He had to get home, he had to go to Margaret and hug her, tell her that he loved her with all his being and that he would be glad to marry her. Cadel needed to get out of this mess, and he would...or at least he thought so.
Giving a grunt, he managed to roll away from another attacker's hand and get up running. Cadel swayed back and forth, the trauma to his head making him want to just fall asleep and die peacefully. He wouldn't be swayed by how easy death was- he needed to get home! Cadel turned a corner, his feet nearly slipping on the wet mud and oil that coated the ground still. He clung to the grooves in the brick wall next to him as he ran, his eyes becoming closed over with something red, like blood. Cadel tried remembering where to avoid turning as to not go into a dead end. He couldn't remember, and, he soon found himself turning into a dead end. Cadel still rushed forward, concentrating as much as his head would allow for a wormhole. He wasn't fast enough getting there and as soon as he passed through the gateway, he felt a bullet rip into his stomach area.
Cadel's portal opened up into the middle of a semi-busy square, and out toppled the male. He was on his stomach, his fingers on the area where he had been shot. Clinching the area with a small growl, he tried to get up. Cadel failed though, and only flopped onto his back. "Sir?! SIR!!" he could hear a young woman say, and felt hands on his head and where the bullet had gone into his stomach. "Someone help! PLEASE! Someone help!" Cadel heard the woman yell desperately as people crowded around. No one seemed to notice her though, not one person even went to go and grab help. Cadel weakly turned his face to see the woman's, and saw a feminine face that was exactly like that of his dead sister. He heard her still yelling for help as horrendous pain shot through his body, a consequence of being shot in the stomach. Cadel's head flopped back, his face a mask of grimace, and horror.
However, as the pain started to subside, Cadel looked to the woman who was still calling for help, unable to think or even comprehend that his sister was alive again. He could hear her apologize as he started to pass, the darkness starting to take over his mind. Strange enough, when the case was investigated by the police no one in the girl's area claimed to have seen her. It was like she had never existed. Eventually when the case was closed due to lack of leads and general uninterest, the body of Cadel was turned over to his parents. He was buried next to his sister, Mary Liza, in a simple funeral that his parents knew he would have approved of.
"Sometimes the dead can come back, maybe just before death or maybe just before a new life is introduced to the world. I honestly believe that if my sister forgives what I did to her, then she will be my escort to our afterlife. If she doesn't forgive me totally, I still think she'll be my escort...she was never one to have severe grudges, you know."
See You On the Other Side

Wet days are spoilers, and they know that they are. They make the ground wet, slippery, and cause more deaths then a lot of things. Wet days can also exist in the soul, wet days in which the feet of your soul slip and fall into the eternal darkness of despair, hatred, and loneliness. Where you emerge is the other side, which is the consolation prize for the pain of the fall, probably.
